Hire the House

Houchins is a Grade 2* listed farmhouse dating back to the 15th century that offers the perfect setting for a family gathering, special celebration or cosy weekend away.  The accommodation is extremely comfortable and available for 14 people in the main house and an additional two in the romantic cartlodge adjoining the farmhouse.  It is privately owned and set in beautiful landscaped grounds of 2 acres which are in turn surrounded by its own rolling farmland.  The house has been sympathetically restored to the highest standards and decorated with carefully sourced local antiques.  There is a large oak panelled drawing room with open fireplace, large well equipped farmhouse kitchen and formal dining room comfortably accommodating 16 people.

Conveniently located just off the A120 Houchins is 1 mile east of the pretty town of Coggeshall and just 15 minutes from the historic town of Colchester with its castle, roman ruins and zoo. There is also all the shopping you need at Freeport in Braintree and the former home to the Knights Templar at the medieval farmstead of Cressing Temple Barns is nearby.  Local amenities include several golf and tennis clubs.  The Essex coastline is approximately 15 miles away and central London just one hour by train.  Please call 01376 561448 for more information on prices and available dates.

“We’re just back from our minimoon and now all the wedding dust has settled, just wanted to drop you all a note to say a huge THANK YOU for everything you did to make our day so fantastic. A lot of people had said to us before ‘things will go wrong on the day, but you just won’t care’ – but nothing did for us! Everything ran so smoothly as we had planned and it was everything we wanted it to be and more. Thank you to all of you and your amazing team that make it all happen, I couldn’t recommend you highly enough as a venue. September 2019 ”
