Real Weddings at Houchins – Success Stories from past couples

Jayson

Jayson is an integral part of the wedding team and is just as passionate and excited about Houchins as when he first started in 2014 and started showing couples around.

They say weddings can be stressful but not with us here at Houchins. We think they are exciting and fun. Take a look at a few of the ‘real life weddings’ that we have loved being part of…

Music to your ears

A ‘step’ back with a touch of nostalgia and playing an entrance song that nobody will forget so you have guests up and dancing from the very start!

As a teen, singing along to the lyrics of your favourite love songs on the school bus with your Walkman cassette, who would imagine one of them being the entrance song at your wedding!

This wedding did…

The bridal entrance ‘buzzed’ and was upbeat. Even the wedding co-ordinator was tapping his toes! The lyrics worked ‘say you’ll be mine!’, can you guess the band yet?

The melody was uplifting and everybody smiled. It worked so well, and incorporating music into your wedding day that means something to you is key to making special moments even more memorable but most of all exciting and different.

There was no tragedy at this wedding! Have you guessed it? – It was Steps’ “Say you’ll be mine”, and one of their albums was called Buzz! They also had a number 1 called Tragedy.

An entrance to remember

Something that is a shock as much as a surprise!

Brides all dream of the white dress and we see lots of stunning and gorgeous looks. Veils, long trains, different materials and shapes but have you ever thought about making an impact and incorporating your personality and theme into a different colour dress!?

Well, this year, we had a bride fashioning a black dress! It was sooo sparkly!

Yes, a black dress!

She looked stunning and was very brave to take the plunge into making an entrance with a difference.

We got it, and she looked amazing!

A double give-away

Now, we all know family dynamics and table plan seating can be a painstaking task as well as political but not here with this family.

Birth dad and stepdad both lent an arm in giving the bride away.

We just loved the way our bride decided to walk down the aisle in style and in such a heartwarming and inclusive way including two of her VIPS to help. Instead of one dad, she had two!

Our gorgeous garden entrance and the runway path/aisle just lent itself perfectly to this idea with enough space and distance to make it work!

Dad One took the first part of the bridal procession from the garden gates to meet Dad Two over the cobbled heart feature part way down!

There was a handshake and an emotional moment between the two dads (you could see the love they both had for their daughter and how proud this moment was!)

Then with each dad either side, the bride beaming with happiness, our teams’ heart melted and she continued her entrance with both of her fathers.

At the altar, when they were asked ‘who gives away the bride’ both dads proudly said together ‘we do’ (a first for us!)

We had never seen such a wonderful way to show how proud you are of a parent by involving both fathers.

So why not incorporate all the special humans into your entrance in a blended and inclusive way? The possibilities are endless, and yes, we have seen processions containing 12 and more, flower dudes stealing the moment, but one word for advice – just make sure you have a long enough piece of music or maybe two or three!

Décor decorum

Keeping with themes and ideas on décor – hobbies and interests have made their way into the décor at many of our recent weddings. One that comes to mind is a Lego themed wedding. There were Lego themed table centres that looked like ‘real’ flowers or plants, and Lego bricks used as table scatter. Cake toppers representing the couple made of Lego figurines and Lego toys that represented their favourite tv programmes & films. There were even Lego characters spread out on the gift table and incorporated onto the order of the day and the table plan! It may well be an expensive hobby but costs less than real flowers – right? Who needs flowers when you can expand your Lego collection and use them as your wedding décor!?

Another very popular feature is incorporating your travels into your wedding, sharing all the favourite places you have been to together and still hope to visit. We’ve seen table settings named after cities, towns and regions from all over the world displayed on postcards. Table favours of chutneys made in Tiptree, Essex, sticks of rock from Great Yarmouth and limoncello from Italy, all little things to personalise your wedding.

At Houchins we are inclusive, keen to please and most of all assure any couples looking to create their dream wedding that we are on that journey with you!

We really look forward to being surprised by your wedding themes and ideas!
